Jahm Najafi is interested in taking over Tottenham Hotspur but has also considered investing in Premier League rivals Everton.

That’s according to the Daily Mail (16/02, back page), who claim that Najafi is set to make a bid totalling £3.1billion for Tottenham.

However, that valuation is believed to be way off the price tag Joe Lewis has in mind, which is allegedly up to £4.5billion.

A deal for Tottenham is now described as ‘impossible’ with Najafi seemingly having little chance of reaching the lofty price tag.

The report does though note that Najafi has a ‘long-standing interest’ in Premier League football and has also been exploring investment in Everton.

That may be a much easier deal than Tottenham though whether he would want to purchase the whole club is unclear given that Everton don’t quite get the returns Tottenham do.

Who is Everton and Tottenham suitor Jahm Najafi and what is his net worth?

Najafi, 60, worked on Wall Street with Salomon Brothers before becoming CEO of Pivotal Private Equity.

An Iranian-American businessman, Najafi has already moved into the world of sport.

Najafi is a part-owner of the Phoenix Suns in the NBA and also serves as a governor on the board of the NBA.

Even with the Suns now sold to Mat Ishbia, Najafi has retained his stake in one of NBA’s top teams.

Najafi has also headed into motorsport and serves as a vice-chairman of McLaren racing in Formula 1.

Najafi’s main business now is Najafi Companies, a private-equity firm that focuses on investments worth up to $1billion.

The question Everton fans will want to know is how much is Najafi actually worth?

Najafi has a net worth of around $3.5 billion according to The Paddock Magazine as of 2021.

That isn’t enough to buy Tottenham and it is thought that he would be sourcing additional investment from elsewhere.

If the Tottenham deal doesn’t work out, maybe Najafi will move on to Everton – and he may find that Farhad Moshiri is more interested in selling.
