The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will see Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs face Dean Smith’s Villans, who are back in the Premier League after three years away.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik Lamela has banged the drum ahead of his side’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa in North London, as reported by the official Spurs website.
The Villa Park side is back in the top flight after three topsy-turvy years in the second tier and they will head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a bid to open their campaign on a high note.
Dean Smith’s charges enjoyed a late resurgence last season, a winning run from March onwards propelling them into the Championship’s top six, before overcoming West Bromwich Albion and Derby County to earn their place back in the Premier League.
Villa have strengthered considerably this summer, with no fewer than 12 signings either arriving at the club or turning their prior loan deals at Villa Park into permanent ones, and as such, Lamela is predicting a difficult start for Spurs.

Nonetheless, with Tottenham having had a good pre-season, beating Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to win the Audi Cup and seeing off Juventus earlier in the summer, optimism is high within the ranks at N17.
“Villa will be a difficult game,” Lamela told the official Spurs website. “They will try to do well. We will try to get the three points and we now work hard to prepare for the game.
“We know what to do. I think the team is ready and the players are motivated for the start of the season. I believe we can have a very good season. It’s important to start well and the players are motivated to start well. We’re ready.”
