Tottenham could give Tashan Oakley-Boothe a place in the squad against Barnsley.

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Tashan Oakley-Boothe could be set for a role in the first team this week.

The club’s team selection for last night’s under-23 game dropped a hint he could feature, with Oakley-Boothe not named in the squad.

Spurs named a strong side, with Kazaiah Sterling, Marcus Edwards and Anthony Georgiou all starting in the under-23 encounter with Swansea.

Tottenham play Barnsley on Wednesday night at Wembley.

The 48 hour turn around time means it is still possible the trio could have been called upon, but Mauricio Pochettino told the Evening Standard that he felt Edwards was not ready to feature.

Oakley-Boothe is another matter, with the Spurs talent starring in last week’s under-19 win over Dortmund.

Oakley-Boothe was the only Spurs youngster to feature against PSG in the pre-season, an indicator of how highly he is rated by the club.

The Daily Mail reported that Pochettino’s faith in Oakley-Boothe was one reason Spurs did not push ahead with interest in Pape Cheikh Diop this summer.

Getting Harry Winks involved should be a priority for Spurs, but Oakley-Boothe is a good bet to feature on the bench and get brought on if the game goes Tottenham’s way.
