Wilfried Zaha has been in impressive form for Crystal Palace this season, with the Ivory Coast international’s displays not going unnoticed by some of the major clubs in the Premier League.
As reported by The Mirror, Chelsea are interested in signing Zaha, who has thrived as a forward for Palace this campaign having previously been mainly used as a winger.
The report indicates that Tottenham’s interest in Zaha, who has scored four goals in the Premier League this season since returning from injury, has cooled.
Zaha is certainly an exciting player who would give Tottenham directness and flair in abundance, but, although he has impressed this season, there remain concerns regarding whether he is somebody that can be relied upon to perform consistently.
Moreover, Tottenham can already call upon Son Heung-min, who can operate as a second striker and has one more Premier League goal than Zaha this season.
In addition, Erik Lamela has looked sharp since returning from injury and is capable of providing Tottenham with an extra attacking edge.
The evidence suggests that Tottenham are correct to cool their interest in Zaha as they already have attacking players who can be more effective in terms of supporting Harry Kane.
Tottenham would be better off investing some of their money in a deep-lying midfielder to replace Mousa Dembele than bringing in Zaha.
