Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the young left winger but it is the opposite flank they must focus on.
Following reports that Tottenham Hotspur had agreed a deal for Galatasaray winger Bruma, the Turkish side made the decision to release an official statement on their website denying any deal had been done.
And Spurs fans should be relieved, because they do not need a new left winger given the emergence of Heung-min Son this season.
Given the disappointing form of Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and the disappearance of Erik Lamela, it is the right flank that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino should be focusing on and Bruma is not the answer in that regard.
The 22-year-old has been touted as the next big thing for some time now, and his return of eight goals and eight assists for Galatasaray this season suggests he is beginning to blossom.
But the last thing Tottenham need is another player who is going to be hit-and-miss for the first few years of his stay in North London.
Son has proved he is an effective option both out wide and up front and he should not be shunted aside in favour of Bruma.
Instead the South Korea international should play on the left week in, week out next season, with Tottenham focusing their recruitment on a new right winger who can offer them balance and additional goal threat from the outset.
