Destiny Udogie will only join up with Tottenham Hotspur next summer but the club appear to have somebody checking on him every day.

Tottenham decided to bring in Antonio Conte as their manager last year and that meant one sure thing – playing with wing backs.

Spurs offloaded Sergio Reguilon to Atletico Madrid with Conte seemingly unconvinced by him as a wing back.

Tottenham landed Ivan Perisic on a free transfer to give Conte an immediate left wing back option before securing one for the future too.

Tottenham putting effort in with Destiny Udogie

Spurs swooped in to sign Destiny Udogie from Udinese in a deal worth around £18million including add-ons.

Udogie had emerged as an enormous talent in Italy with Udinese and looks to be a huge prospect for the future.

Tottenham clearly felt that, if they waited another year to move for Udogie, they would risk missing out on him altogether.

That’s why Spurs decided to pay now, secure Udogie and allow him to go back on loan to Udinese for the season.

Udogie is playing regularly for Udinese and has bagged two goals as well as one assist in 11 Serie A games this term.

The 19-year-old could be Tottenham’s long-term solution at left wing back and the hope is that he can make a huge impact when his loa needs next summer.

Tottenham will be keeping close tabs on Udogie and the teenager admitted last month that he is studying Spurs ahead of his move.

Agent Stefano Antonelli has now spoken to Tuttomercatoweb about Udogie.

Antonelli claims that the likes of AC Milan and Juventus wanted Udogie when he was with Hellas Verona but it was Udinese who pushed the hardest for his signature.

Antonelli added that whilst Udogie is focused on Udinese, Tottenham are ‘such and organised club’ that they have somebody in contact with Udogie every day.

“Tottenham took him off the market by buying him but previously Udinese was also good at overcoming the competition when Verona needed to sell him,” said Antonelli. “Everyone would have gladly taken him, even Milan and Juventus but at that moment it was the Friulians who believed in it more than the others, paying him 2.8 million euros.”

“Obviously we often talk about Tottenham but he continues to tell me that he is very focused on Udinese. Obviously he documents about Spurs, also because it is such an organised club that it has a person who deals with Udogie on a daily basis,” he added.
