Tottenham Hotspur want Destiny Udogie and now appear to be closing in on the Udinese talent despite interest from Manchester City.
Tottenham have placed a real focus on wing backs in order to play Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 system moving forward.
Ivan Perisic has arrived from Inter Milan on the left flank whilst Djed Spence is on the right flank from Middlesbrough.
Conte still has options like Ryan Sessegnon, Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty whilst Sergio Reguilon is primed for the chopping block.
Tottenham are now looking towards another wing back, this time with an eye towards the future.
Tottenham Hotspur want Destiny Udogie
Reports from Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday night suggested that Tottenham are in talks to snap up Udinese talent Udogie.
The idea would be for Udogie to join Tottenham but then head straight back to Udinese on loan for the 2022-23 season.
Tottenham may well plan for Udogie to become the long-term heir to Perisic on the left side.
Perisic is only on a two-year deal so Udogie emerging into the first-team picture in 2024 does make some sense.
Calciomercato claim that the deal is worth €25million (£21million) – and Tottenham are fending off major interest in Udogie.

It’s stated that Manchester City have thought about signing Udogie as they consider their options at left back.
Oleksandr Zinchenko has moved on to Arsenal and City now want another left back to compete with Joao Cancelo.
Juventus, Inter Milan, Lazio and Brighton have also considered signing Udogie, but pipping City will be a source of joy at Tottenham.
Tottenham may only want Udogie from next summer onwards, but likely feel that they would miss out if they waited another year.
Securing Udogie now keeps him out of City’s clutches and gives him another year to develop before heading to North London, hopefully becoming a Premier League star.
