Tottenham fancy re-signing Dennis Cirkin from Sunderland despite only letting the left back leave for Wearside in August 2021.
Harry Kane has become the poster boy for all Tottenham youngsters who dream of becoming superstars with the North London club.
Yet not everybody can be like Kane; many have to leave and carve out their own paths to success.
Kyle Walker-Peters is a great example; he couldn’t secure regular first-team football so moved on to Southampton and has really impressed.

Tottenham fancy re-signing Dennis Cirkin
Dennis Cirkin had to make a similar decision last year.
The left back joined Tottenham as a kid and came up through the ranks of the Spurs academy.
Cirkin – who can play for England, Ireland and even Latvia on the international stage – was highly regarded at Tottenham but wasn’t given first-team chances.
It was still a surprise when Tottenham sold Cirkin to Sunderland in August 2021 though, allowing the youngster to move on and thrive in the North East.
Cirkin racked up more than 40 first-team outings last season and has already played eight times in the Championship this term with the 20-year-old clearly highly regarded at Sunderland.
A shock rumour is now emerging with The Sun claiming that Tottenham fancy re-signing Cirkin just over a year since selling him.
It’s suggested that Tottenham will make final checks on Cirkin before considering whether to launch a January move for their former prospect.
Reports have claimed that Tottenham have a £6million buy-back option on Cirkin which will be valid until the summer of 2024.
Tottenham could therefore activate that clause in January and then look to bring him through as a homegrown player for Antonio Conte’s squad.
Alternatively, Tottenham can look to sell Cirkin on to another club down the line, which is something hinted at in The Sun’s report.
Hailed as a ‘fantastic’ player who will have a ‘top career’ by former Sunderland boss Lee Johnson, Cirkin may well find himself back in North London soon.
Tottenham’s interest is a surprise, but they will of course be keeping tabs on him thanks to that buy-back clause – and they may just be impressed enough to launch a move.
