Tottenham want Dennis Cirkin but now face a battle with London rivals Brentford for the Sunderland talent’s signature.
Harry Kane has risen through the Tottenham ranks to become a club hero but others end up having to leave in search of stardom.
Just look at Kyle Walker-Peters, who is now a regular at Southampton, or even winger Noni Madueke, who left Tottenham at a young age to test himself at PSV Eindhoven.
The door would surely be open for either of them to return, and one former Tottenham player may well end up back in North London.

Tottenham want Dennis Cirkin
The Sun reported last week that Tottenham are interested in bringing Sunderland left back Dennis Cirkin back to the club.
Tottenham allowed Cirkin to leave for Sunderland in August 2021 but reports have suggested that Spurs have a £6million buy-back option on Cirkin.
Tottenham are allegedly watching Cirkin closely ahead of a potential move to re-sign him in January but Spurs aren’t alone in the race.
The Sun now claim that Brentford are interested in signing Cirkin.
It’s suggested that Brentford view Cirkin as a potential replacement for Rico Henry should he decide to leave West London.
Henry, 25, only signed a new four-year contract in March of this year but Brentford seemingly have some fears that he may move on.
20-year-old Cirkin is now being fancied by the Bees, and they may have been impressed on Saturday.
Cirkin bagged a goal and an assist as Sunderland beat Wigan Athletic 2-1, but he played as a left-sided centre back rather than a left wing back.
That’s something that could appeal to both Antonio Conte and Thomas Frank, who have been known to play three-man defences.
Cirkin, who can play for England, Ireland and Latvia on the international stage, may soon have a big decision to make; return to Tottenham due to some unfinished business, keep starring for Sunderland or try his luck with Brentford?
Tottenham may hope his emotional pull to Spurs will help them here but the added interest in Cirkin – who Jose Mourinho ‘really liked’ according to Mowbray – just shows what a talent he has become.
