Tottenham Hotspur want David Raya just over a year since Fabio Paratici felt that the Brentford goalkeeper was prohibitively expensive.
Spurs haven’t really needed to push for a new first-choice goalkeeper for over 10 years now.
Hugo Lloris joined Spurs from Lyon back in 2012 and has been a mainstay of the Tottenham side ever since.
Lloris has been a great servant for Tottenham but he turns 36 in December and his time at the top may be coming to an end.
Tottenham don’t have a clear succession plan in place and may be in the market for a long-term goalkeeping solution in 2023.

90Min claim that Tottenham are looking at a number of potential goalkeeper signings with Brentford’s David Raya one of them.
Raya, 27, is seen as a great ball-playing goalkeeper and signing him would sum up a real shift from Tottenham in terms of their progression from the back.
The former Blackburn Rovers ace has now racked up over 100 appearances for the Bees since joining in 2019.
Raya has even picked up two Spain caps and is in the Spain squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Tottenham are seemingly considering him as the long-term successor to Lloris – and it seems that Fabio Paratici has had him on his radar for a while.
The Athletic reported in July 2021 that Paratici wanted to bring Raya to Tottenham but just felt the asking price was too high at the time.
Brentford were under no pressure to sell and their stance left Tottenham to go and sign Pierluigi Gollini instead.
If Tottenham go back in for Raya now, they would seemingly be doing so under the belief that Raya would be cheaper this time around.
Raya is out of contract in 2024, meaning he is now approaching the final 18 months of his contract.
Tottenham may hope to take advantage of that, hoping that Brentford sell before Raya leaves for nothing.
That must be Paratici’s plan this time, and he could finally get his man having missed out last year.
