Danny Rose is in talks with Wigan Athletic as he pushes for a return to football after training with Tottenham Hotspur.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side that launched two title challenges are now becoming a fascinating case study in players going in very different directions.
Some have become top stars with Harry Kane, Kyle Walker and Son Heung-min still playing at a very high level.
Others like Dele Alli and Victor Wanyama were so vital to Pochettino’s machine and yet struggled to keep up their high standards.

Danny Rose is in talks with Wigan Athletic
In the case of Danny Rose, his decline has been a little sad to see.
Rose excelled as a swashbuckling left back under Pochettino, with he and Kyle Walker both emerging as outstanding attacking full backs.
The former Leeds United talent become vital for club and country but an injury in early 2017 derailed him.
Rose spent around 10 months out of action and was just never really the same again, playing just 48 Premier League games for Tottenham from that point on.
A loan move to Newcastle United didn’t help Rose get back on track and Tottenham allowed him to leave for free in 2021.
Watford swooped in by giving Rose a two-year deal, but his struggles continued as he managed just eight league appearances last term and was booked in four of them.
The Hornets terminated Rose’s deal a year early this summer and the 32-year-old finds himself without a club almost two months into the season.
Tottenham did allow Rose to come back and train with them over the summer but there was never a real chance fo a deal being offered.
Rose could have a route back into football though as The Sun claim that the veteran defender is in talks over a move to join Wigan Athletic.
The Championship side are looking to bolster their squad even outside of the transfer window and are looking towards free agents.
Rose is now a potential signing for Leam Richardson’s side, who are primarily looking to survive the drop back to League One this season.
Rose’s experience could be handy in that situation and Wigan seemingly have confidence of securing a deal with terms not expected to be a problem.
Tottenham fans would surely love to see Rose land himself a new club and hopefully turn in some strong performances between now and next summer.
