The Spurs and Cottagers ex-player says Sessegnon – who Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wants to bring to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – is a “wonderful talent”.

Tottenham Hotspur ex-player Danny Murphy has given his thoughts on the prospect of Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon joining Spurs (The Mirror) after reports linking the full-back to the North London club re-emerged ahead of the final few days of the transfer window.

As reported by Sky Sports News, the two clubs are in talks over Sessegnon’s transfer and all parties are believed to be hopeful a deal can be concluded for the 19-year-old before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Goal.com has claimed that a Tottenham bid of £30million plus Josh Onomah should be enough to tempt Fulham chiefs to part ways with the teenage ace.

The Champions League finalists have already spent a reported £65million on Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke this summer, and the Daily Express has claimed that they see Sessegnon as a long-term replacement for Danny Rose, who has been linked with a departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Murphy, who has played for both Tottenham and Fulham, acknowledges that Sessegnon would probably benefit more playing another season in the Championship but believes that, now his head has been turned, it might be best for him to make the switch.

“I think with all the speculation surrounding a young player it can affect you, so for his sake and for the club’s sake it would be better to just get it done and for everyone to move on,” Murphy told The Mirror.

“He’s a wonderful talent, and he would learn more playing another full season in the Championship but it’s difficult to focus when you’ve had your head turned. For me, it might be best for Fulham to just get the best deal done and let him learn at a Premier League club.”
