The 1-1 draw with Sporting last week leaves Tottenham with work to do and they still need to find a result in France.
Cristian Romero has missed Tottenham training
Tottenham have been shaky of late and had to come from 2-0 down to beat Bournemouth 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Conte will be looking for a win on Tuesday night but he may now be without a vital player as he prepares for the game.
Tottenham trained at Hotspur Way today and Cristian Romero wasn’t involved according to Sky Sports.
Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski were both missing too, but that was to be expected as they come back from longer-term injuries.
Romero missed the home defeat to Newcastle United with a small injury but then returned to face Sporting last week.
The Argentinian was back out of the side again on Saturday as Tottenham headed to Bournemouth.
Fans may have wondered whether Romero was just being rested for Marseille but that may not be the case.
It now looks like Romero has suffered an injury setback and that may now mean Davinson Sanchez starts again on Tuesday.
The Colombian is a major step down from Romero and Antonio Conte is likely to know that.
Conte has called Romero ‘perfect’ and the 24-year-old is certainly one of the top players in the Tottenham squad.
Unless there is a miraculous recovery in the coming hours, Tottenham will have to secure their Champions League future without Romero.
