Cristian Romero won’t play against Liverpool as the Tottenham defender faces a short spell on the sidelines with a ‘slight muscle injury’.
This has been a frustrating period for Romero.
The Argentinian missed the home defeat to Newcastle United before returning to face Sporting in the Champions League last week.
Tottenham fans will have hoped that was the end of it but Romero then missed games against Bournemouth and Marseille.
It’s now clear that Romero’s injury is a bigger problem than expected and he may not play again before the World Cup.

Cristian Romero won’t play against Liverpool
TyC Sports in Romero’s native Argentina report that the Tottenham defender has suffered a ‘slight muscle injury’.
They report that Romero will be out for 10 days, meaning he will miss Tottenham’s game against Liverpool this weekend.
This comes after news broke late on Wednesday that Son Heung-min requires surgery on a fractured eye socket.
Tottenham now look set to be without Son and Romero against Liverpool as well as Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.
Those are enormous misses for Tottenham but the Argentinian press don’t seem all that upset.
TyC talk of ‘relief’ because it means that Romero won’t have to play in the Premier League before heading off to the World Cup with Argentina.
Tottenham’s last game before the World Cup break sees them take on Leeds United on December 12th.
It would be a big ask to get Romero rushed back for that game and the 24-year-old appears to have played his last Premier League game before the break.
Antonio Conte will feel cursed after losing both Son and Romero for such a big game against Liverpool and will now have to decide how to replace the defender.
Davinson Sanchez has been poor of late and that resulted in Eric Dier shifting over to play at right centre back with Clement Lenglet in the middle.
Dier’s pace isn’t ideal for that role but with Sanchez struggling, he may have to play there against Liverpool.
