Cristian Romero helped Argentina beat Poland 2-0 on Wednesday night and the Tottenham Hotspur ace has been earning praise for his display.
Argentina’s 2-0 win over Mexico on Saturday set up a crucial game against Poland.
Win and Lionel Messi’s men were heading into the knockouts, recovering from that 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia.
Messi may have faltered from the penalty spot but Argentina still grabbed a 2-0 win as Alexis Mac Allister and Julian Alvarez found the net.
Argentina have now set up a last 16 meeting with Australia and will hope to advance again with momentum building.

Tottenham ace Cristian Romero praised
Boss Lionel Scaloni made a surprise decision with his lineup before the game.
Scaloni dropped Tottenham defender Cristian Romero against Mexico with Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez preferred.
Yet Scaloni then brought Romero back in against Poland, ultimately grabbing the same result with a clean sheet.
Romero hasn’t really been fully fit of late and had been struggling with injuries for Tottenham before heading to Qatar.
Romero was charged with the task of keeping Robert Lewandowski quiet on Wednesday night and did his job very well.
Ole gave Romero and 8 out of 10 in their player ratings, claiming that he was ‘focused and on top of’ Lewandowski, barely letting him touch the ball.
ESPN only went with 6 out of 10 but still praised his display against Lewandowski, suggesting that the Tottenham ace was ‘not startled’ by such a big challenge.
Lao Voz offered enormous praise, claiming that Romero was ‘winning in all sectors’ against Lewandowski and that this game was the best version of him.
Clarin handed Romero a 6/10 rating and praised his anticipation at the back.
This is all great to hear for Tottenham fans with Romero shining on the world stage – and they will just hope that it continues when Premier League action returns.
