Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku if Harry Kane leaves this summer.
That is according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian outlet claims that Romelu Lukaku could become an option for Tottenham should Kane join Bayern Munich before the transfer window closes.
There could be a few issues, though, with one being manager Ange Postecoglou. La Gazzetta dello Sport’s report states that the new Spurs boss is actually not a fan of the Belgium international.
The Athletic revealed on Thursday morning that Bayern had agreed a deal with Tottenham to sign Kane, so whether it is Lukaku or someone else, Postecoglou may find himself having to buy a new No.9 before the market shuts in September.
Romelu Lukaku is a logical replacement for Harry Kane
Tottenham moving for Lukaku if Kane leaves north London makes a lot of sense. The 30-year-old has proven himself in the Premier League and is probably one of the best strikers in the world when he is fit and in form.
While things did not work out for him under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, his former manager described him as a “world-class” forward.

From Lukaku’s perspective, joining Tottenham would also make a lot of sense. He is stuck at Stamford Bridge right now, with a return to Inter Milan an option that no longer seems to be on the table.
It is unlikely that he moves to their rivals Juventus either. According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, a swap deal that would have seen Lukaku join the Old Lady and Dusan Vlahovic head to west London is now off.
Aside from Vlahovic, there are not too many prolific No.9s Tottenham could turn to if they do not fancy Lukaku. So if Kane does depart, bringing in the latter or the former could be the way for Spurs to go.
