Tottenham Hotspur need to add some real quality to their squad this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino has a lot of work to do at Tottenham this summer, if he is to build a squad who are capable of making the jump up to that elusive next level.
One particular area where the Argentine wants to improve is his attacking department, and the addition of a real superstar might just be what Spurs need to end their 10-year wait for a major trophy.
According to the Mirror, Tottenham are interested in signing Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, although the Red Devils will demand £75 million for his signature.
The Frenchman joined United from Monaco in the summer of 2015, for a fee that could eventually surpass the £60 million mark, and he has gone on to chalk up 36 goals and 26 assists in 136 appearances in all competitions.
That output hardly suggests that Martial is worth the £75 million that has been reported, and Tottenham might be better served in looking elsewhere.
According to a report from the Mirror, Spurs have been offered the chance to sign Lyon ace Nabil Fekir for £66 million, and that would represent far better value than what they have been quoted for Martial.
The 24-year-old France international has chalked up 57 goals and 37 assists in 153 appearances for Lyon, with all of those coming from the number 10 position.
He is a real live-wire, and possesses exceptional technical ability.
Fekir would be an excellent signing for Tottenham, and what with Martial’s somewhat lackadaisical approach to the game, the Lyon ace would be a far better, and cheaper, option than his international teammate.
