If Tottenham Hotspur replace Jose Mourinho with Massimiliano Allegri, it may hurt the Portuguese boss more than most.
Mourinho’s future at Tottenham has come into sharp focus, after a disappointing run of results.
Spurs may have beaten Aston Villa in their most recent outing, but their defeats to Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb have really left questions being asked of Mourinho.
90 Minutes have suggested that Spurs have a number of candidates who could take over the role and Allegri is one the names listed.
The Italian is apparently interested in taking over from Mourinho if offered the job.
Allegri would certainly be an interesting appointment for Spurs, not least because his relationship with Mourinho has previously been strained.
When the pair were managing against each other in Italy, Allegri had some strong words for his counterpart.

“Every now and then he is pathetic,” Allegri told the Guardian.
“He continuously repeats the same things and it becomes banal. I think he is very talented but his arrogance hides insecurity.”
Those comments are unlikely to have been forgotten about since by Mourinho.
And if Allegri does take his job at Spurs that could be an appointment which really stings for The Special One.
