Last summer, Danny Murphy suggested Tottenham should consider raiding Chelsea and sign England striker Tammy Abraham. Now, Jorge Mendes has reportedly approached Abraham about a move to Antonio Conte’s side.
Abraham, 24, chose to move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma from Chelsea for a fee believed to be in the region of £34million. He is flourishing in Italy, netting 23 goals in 40 games – including seven in Roma’s last eight Serie A outings.

He has returned to the England fold on a regular basis this season thanks to his Roma form. But a move to England on a more permanent basis could be on the cards, thanks to Portuguese super agent Mendes – and Tottenham.
The Athletic report Harry Kane could leave Spurs this summer with Manchester United intent on landing the England skipper. Abraham has been sounded out by Mendes – along with Darwin Nunez – as a replacement.
Speaking to TalkSPORT ahead of his move to Roma last summer, ex-Spurs midfielder Murphy suggested that Tottenham should raid Chelsea and sign Abraham – as Kane continued to be linked with a move to Manchester City.
“I think Harry Kane is going to go to Man City. Before we were talking about Abraham. What a signing he’d be for someone like Tottenham. If Kane is going to go; Tammy is a goalscorer,” Murphy told TalkSPORT in 2021.
Murphy on Abraham: Could Conte reunite with striker at Tottenham?
Tottenham will only sign a big-name, expensive striker if Kane leaves. Of course, Kane will want to go if Spurs fail to finish in the top four – and if Daniel Levy’s requirements are met. There is a chance that could happen.
Kane’s value will have gone down as he nears the expiry of his contract in 2024 – and is a year older. Abraham would be a good signing; he knows Conte well. Football Italia report Chelsea have a £67million buyback clause.
