Tottenham could reportedly move to sign Ajax superstar and rumoured Arsenal target Mohammed Kudus in an attempt to convince Antonio Conte to stay at Spurs.
According to CalcioMercato, the north London side are willing to move in for the Ghana international at the request of Conte, with Tottenham hopeful that signing Kudus will be enough to convince the Italian manager to pen a new long-term contract with the club.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder was one of the breakout stars of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Ghana, with Kudus scoring two goals as the African nation were unable to progress out of their group. And recent reports seem to suggest that a transfer in January could be on the cards.
According to the Sun, Ajax are open to selling Kudus in the January window if an offer of £40m comes in for the Eredivisie superstar. And this latest update surrounding Tottenham could hint that a bid of around this valuation could soon be made by Conte’s side.

Tottenham are far from alone in their interest in Kudus, though, with 90min claiming that Arsenal are also chasing the youngster, as well as Liverpool and Newcastle United. However, Spurs could feel confident in their efforts to land the Ghanaian international.
Indeed, the added pressure of signing Kudus potentially being the catalyst that keeps Conte at the club will likely push Daniel Levy to make the move. However, the deal could in reality make little sense given what Tottenham actually need in the window.
Tottenham could struggle with squad chemistry if they sign Kudus

Most Tottenham fans would agree that a central midfielder who can create should be a priority in the January market, and whilst Kudus could operate in this role, it’s hardly the best use of the youngster’s promising abilities, with the 22-year-old much more suited to playing in the attacker.
And as a result, signing Kudus could unbalance the squad more than anything, with the forward joining a team that are stacked with attacking options in Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Richarlison, with Conte seemingly getting his priorities wrong.
