Tottenham could now miss out on Vedat Muriqi as club confirm talks with Lazio

Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a new striker this summer, but they could miss out on one possible target.

Football.London report that Patson Daka, Habib Diallo and Arkadiusz Milik are all wanted by Spurs, whilst others have been linked too.

One of the names touted for a move to Spurs is Vedat Muriqi, with A Spor reporting in May that Tottenham offer just €5million (£4.5million) to sign him.

That was way short of what Fenerbahce wanted, and it now looks like Tottenham have been leapfrogged in the race to sign him.

Fenerbahce have confirmed on Twitter that talks are underway with Lazio over a deal for Muriqi to head to Italy.

Muriqi, 26, may now head to Rome to bolster Simone Inzaghi’s attack, with sporting director Igli Tare attempting to snap up the Kosovo international; Muriqi used to represent Tare’s Albania at youth level before switching to play for Kosovo.

Muriqi hit 17 goals and seven assists for Fenerbahce last season, and he fits the target man bill that Jose Mourinho is seeking due to his height and aerial ability.

If Spurs want Muriqi, they will have to move quickly, with Lazio pressing ahead with their attempts to pip Mourinho and co to the Fenerbahce star.
