Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Micky van de Ven is facing major problems amid claims Wolfsburg want him back on loan.
Micky van de Ven may now end up staying at Wolfsburg despite major links with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
That is according to German newspaper Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, who claim that Van de Ven could stay in Germany.
It’s stated that no offers have arrived at Wolfsburg just yet despite major interest from a number of clubs.
Wolfsburg want to keep Van de Ven ‘with all their might’ and one surprise idea for a deal has been floated.
Wolfsburg want around €40million (£34million) for Van de Ven and this report brings up the notion of the defender being ‘parked’ back at Wolfsburg on loan for a year.
It’s suggested that this may be the only way in which Wolfsburg would allow fellow centre back Maxence Lacroix – wanted by Borussia Monchengladbach – to move on.
That’s an interesting idea as Wolfsburg chase one more season with Van de Ven, but it’s unclear just how realistic that actually is as Spurs eye a deal.

Tottenham Hotspur will surely look to avoid Micky van de Ven loan
Rumours linking Van de Ven to Tottenham really accelerated last week.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Spurs had submitted a first offer for Van de Ven and that personal terms were no problem.
The German media seem less sure that Tottenham have made an offer though and the deal now seems to be up in the air.
We really can’t see Tottenham agreeing to the idea of a loan-back though.

Tottenham would want Van de Ven to come in right now and develop in Ange Postecoglou’s system.
Tottenham did agree to such a deal with Udinese for Destiny Udogie last summer but that was for much less money than Van de Ven.
Spurs need to find their left-sided defender of the future and Van de Ven seemed ideal for that role.
Wolfsburg seem to be standing firm though with a hefty fee and a potential loan demand leaving Tottenham to consider moving on.
