Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Bournemouth forward but he will not come cheap.
According to a report from the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Josh King this summer, with his current club Bournemouth valuing the Norwegian forward at £30million.
For that kind of money, some Spurs fans would immediately balk at the idea of bringing the 25-year-old to North London, but he could actually be the first £30million purchase that really pays off for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Having previously forked out a sizable amount for Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko, only to see the former struggle for consistency (prior to last season’s bizarre prolonged injury absence) and the latter almost immediately being labelled a dud, Tottenham supporters would be forgiven for thinking £30million for King would be akin to handing him a poisoned chalice.

However, the Cherries striker is the real deal and he would immediately strengthen Tottenham’s forward line.
Most importantly, he has already proved himself in the Premier League, scoring an impressive 16 goals in 36 appearances last time out, and when you consider he is yet to reach his peak his signing would be a smart if somewhat surprising move for a Spurs side desperate to kick on next season.
When Sissoko signed for Tottenham, it was off the back of a poor campaign for Newcastle during which he could not help them avoid relegation, while Lamela’s age, position out wide and new surroundings meant he was always going to take time to settle.
King is fresh off the back of his best year in the top flight and there is little risk involved in his signing.
The fact that he appeared in all but two of Bournemouth’s league games last season demonstrates his fitness levels and, with Tottenham competing in four competitions, King could act as back-up to Harry Kane, ensuring there was no risk in resting the England international when he wasn’t forming an effective partnership with the Norwegian.
It may be more than some Spurs fans think he is worth, but if King arrived for £30million it could be third time lucky when it comes to that particular transfer fee.
