It has been reported that it would cost Tottenham £13 million in transfer fees to secure the services of the 26-year-old midfielder.
It is not exactly a massive transfer fee, especially in today’s market, but Spurs could have signed the Denmark international for much less in January 2016.
According to Football.London, Werder paid FC Copenhagen a transfer fee of £1.8 million in order to secure the services of Delaney.
Of course, it would have been a risk for Spurs to sign a midfielder from the Danish club, but for less than £2m, it would have worth it, especially as he plays with Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen for the Denmark national football team.
Delaney has scored two goals and provided two assists in 25 Bundesliga starts for Werder so far this season, according to WhoScored.
