Tottenham could grab a bargain as Schalke put Max Meyer up for sale.

Tottenham Hotspur have been given a boost with German side Schalke willing to cash in on Max Meyer this summer.

Newspaper Bild reports Meyer is up for sale, with just one year remaining on his contract at the club.

Meyer has reportedly been informed of the club’s intention, with the club wanting the money to re-invest.

Last summer on deadline day Bild, Spurs were linked with a 45 million Euro move (£38 million) for the attacker, but concentrated their efforts on Moussa Sissoko instead.

Bild reported last month that Meyer had made clear he wanted an exit from Schalke and did not want to commit to a new contract.

Meyer has had a disappointing season and even if not for his contract situation, would not be valued at the high price he was last summer.

Schalke would be more likely to try and get half the amount, and it would be a typical Daniel Levy bargain if he got his man for a knock down price 12 months after initial interest.

Meyer, 21, scored just once and provided one assist, starting 18 games in an inconsistent season in which he was in and out of the side.

The German international has a lot to prove but remains a highly rated young talent who Mauricio Pochettino could help develop.
