Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make a new move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez after the appointment of Antonio Conte.

That’s according to Eurosport, who claim that transfer market sources indicate that Tottenham haven’t given up on Martinez.

Tottenham wanted to sign Martinez over the summer but couldn’t secure him with Inter selling Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea instead.

It’s now suggested that Tottenham haven’t ended their interest in Martinez and are prepared to bid in January or next summer.

This seems very odd timing as Martinez signed a new deal with Inter just last week.

Having committed his future to Inter until 2026 with no release clause, it seems unlikely that Tottenham will manage to sign Martinez any time soon.

Martinez has history with new Tottenham boss Conte

The links to Martinez come just as Tottenham have appointed Antonio Conte as their new manager.

Conte managed Martinez at Inter, with the Argentinian hitman bagging 40 goals in 84 games under Conte.

You can absolutely understand why Conte would fancy reuniting with Martinez at Tottenham based on that record, though they did have their issues too.

Branded ‘spectacular’ by Lionel Messi, Martinez is a quality goalscorer who would bring so much to Tottenham’s attack.

Yet with Harry Kane still at the club and Martinez committing his future to Inter, we doubt that the pair will join forces again at Tottenham.
