Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Inter Milan duo Stefan de Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic – but they may not fit the profile they want.
If there’s anything you can be sure of with Tottenham – and there usually isn’t very much – it’s that Antonio Conte will be backed with new signings.
There is surely no way Conte would have taken the Tottenham job without being promised major reinforcements.
Last week’s defeat to NS Mura only highlighted how many signings Tottenham really need, with Conte’s squad some way short of the necessary quality.
A number of players from Serie A have been linked with Tottenham since Conte’s arrival, including De Vrij and Brozovic.
Tottenham may not sign De Vrij and Brozovic after all
Calciomercato reported last month that Tottenham are leading the race to sign Inter defender De Vrij.
Brozovic is out of contract next summer and Conte wants him at Tottenham according to Sport Mediaset.
Italian transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio has now offered his information on the situation.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Di Marzio suggested that De Vrij and Brozovic will not be leaving Inter in January.
Di Marzio doesn’t even think Tottenham want the duo, believing that they are too old for the project Conte and Tottenham want – despite only being 29.
“I don’t think that this kind of players will leave Inter Milan in January, because they want to win the title,” said Di Marzio. “Brozovic is in talks to renew the contract, De Vrij is so important for Simone Inzaghi.”
“Antonio Conte, Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy, they want young players – top players, but young players. The philosophy of Tottenham is to get top young players, so Brozovic and De Vrij are too old for this project,” he added.
