Kazaiah Sterling has recently made the step up to under-21 football.

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Kazaiah Sterling has earned praise from under-21 coach Ugo Ehiogu after making a big step up.

Sterling was part of the under-18 side at the start of the season, but on Friday made his second ever start for the under-21s.

He starred as Spurs beat Leicester 3-0, with strike partner Shayon Harrison netting twice.

Harrison himself was part of the under-18 side last season, and has been training with the first team over the past few months.

Sterling’s promotion to the under-21s shows how highly he too is regarded.

Ehiogu was full of praise for the striker, but admitted he needs to start getting on the scoresheet himself.

He said: “Kaz was very combative, he looked a real handful, he won headers, was sharp in the box and got shots off so hopefully that will give him a lot of confidence. He also has to add goals, though.”

Sterling is an England youth international, who featured at the under-17 World Cup last year.

Still only 17, he has plenty of time on his side, but his early progress is very encouraging.
