Tottenham Hotspur supporters won’t have liked last night’s Champions League encounter between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spanish outfit won 3-1 on the night to reach the quarter-final of the competition.

This came at the expense of former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, who remains a popular figure among many fans of the North Londoners.

Pochettino spent five-and-a-half years as Spurs boss before being sacked in 2019, ultimately taking the PSG job in January of 2021.

And no doubt the Argentine’s failure to even progress beyond the second round Europe’s elite competition will be received poorly by the club’s hierarchy.

Ryan Mason, now a first-team coach at Tottenham under Antonio Conte, played under Pochettino with the Lilywhites.

And here’s his simple reaction to Real Madrid’s victory on Twitter last night:

Tottenham fans would hate to see Pochettino get sacked by the French outfit.

However, despite being set to win Ligue 1 by a landslide, the 50-year-old manager might be staring down the barrel.

Winning this competition would’ve been his remit above all else and, as mentioned, losing at this phase of the competition is unacceptable, even if it’s against Carlo Ancelotti’s Real.
