Tottenham are set to sign Clement Lenglet with the Barcelona defender snubbing a rival offer from Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
Antonio Conte wanted a left-footed centre back this summer but that pursuit has been difficult.
Ben Davies filled in there admirably last season but he needs competition moving forward.
Conte and Fabio Paratici looked at the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Josko Gvardiol but those moves weren’t possible.
Tottenham could now look elsewhere and it seems that French international Lenglet is emerging as a likely addition.
Tottenham are set to sign Clement Lenglet
Lenglet is available this summer with Barcelona desperately trying to flog players from their squad.
Barcelona paid £32million to sign Lenglet from Sevilla in 2018 but are now ready to let him leave the Camp Nou.
Lenglet, 27, only started seven league games last season and needs a fresh challenge elsewhere.
90Min now claim that Lenglet is set to join Tottenham on loan for the season with an option to buy if he impresses.
It’s added that Marseille and Roma were both keen too but Lenglet has chosen Tottenham as his next destination.

Spurs appear to have pipped their former boss Mourinho to Lenglet’s signing – but Roma could still benefit from this move.
The report notes that Lenglet’s arrival will likely push Joe Rodon closer to the Tottenham exit door and Roma are keen on signing him.
Mourinho brought Rodon to Tottenham in 2020 and the pair could now reunite in a surprise move with Lenglet now off the market.
The pair aren’t exactly identical profiles; Lenglet being left-footed is a huge reason why Tottenham want him whereas Rodon is right-footed.
Mourinho may not be too fussed about that, but it’s pretty important to the way Conte wants to play at Tottenham.
Lenglet isn’t a sure thing to be a success at Tottenham having struggled for form at Barcelona, but beating a couple of clubs to his signature is a bonus for Paratici and co.
