Tottenham Hotspur ace Djed Spence is wanted by Lyon as they consider potential replacements for Chelsea target Malo Gusto.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Spence is attracting real interest.

Southampton are understood to have expressed an interest in signing Spence on loan as they attempt to stay in the Premier League.

The report adds that French club Lyon are now keen on Spence too with Malo Gusto attracting interest.

It’s stated that Chelsea want to sign Gusto as they consider adding another right wing back to offer cover and competition for Reece James.

Gusto is one target having impressed in France and Lyon are now eyeing up Spence as a short-term replacement for their homegrown star.

Djed Spence needs loan move away from Tottenham

Spence joined Tottenham over the summer having impressed on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham struck a deal worth up to £20million with Middlesbrough, with many believing that Tottenham had found their right wing back of the future.

Yet Antonio Conte quickly highlighted that Spence was a club signing rather than somebody he had specifically asked for over the summer.

Months into his Tottenham career, Spence still hasn’t started a single game for Spurs.

Spence has made four Premier League appearances totalling five minutes. Even when Tottenham drew League One side Portsmouth in the FA Cup, Spence was given just 13 minutes off the bench.

It feels clear that Conte just doesn’t trust Spence right now and the Englishman really needs a loan move in order to play regular first-team football.

Seeing Chelsea sign a top talent in Gusto won’t be great, but if Lyon can offer Spence consistent playing time in France, this loan could make sense.
