Tottenham Hotspur are considering an audacious swoop for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen – a player Antonio Conte knows well.
Tottenham pursue shock Christensen deal
Chelsea star Christensen is out of contract at the end of the season and can leave Stamford Bridge.
It doesn’t sound like Christensen’s £80,000-a-week contract will be extended – and Tottenham seem ready to pounce.
The Daily Star claim that Conte wants a new defender – and wants to bring Christensen to Tottenham.
That seems pretty ambitious, especially with Manchester City and Manchester United also keen.
Yet with Conte at Tottenham, you just can’t rule out Christensen fancying a move to North London…
Conte has praised Christensen in the past
Christensen played under Conte in the 2017-18 season, playing 40 times under the Italian.
The Dane, 25, was hailed by Conte even after a big mistake against Barcelona in 2018.
Conte suggested that Christensen was ‘wonderful’ and ‘fantastic’, even predicting that he would become Chelsea captain one day.
That doesn’t seem to be happening though, with Christensen potentially leaving Chelsea instead.
Who knows, if Conte gets his hands on Christensen at Tottenham, he could become Spurs captain one day…
