Tottenham Hotspur seemingly want to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Piero Hincapie – a player Celtic weren’t able to sign last summer.

Tottenham need to find a left-sided centre back this summer given that Ben Davies is filling in there at the moment.

The Telegraph claim that Sven Botman, Alessandro Bastoni and Josko Gvardiol are all on Tottenham’s wish list for that role.

There seems to be another option on the radar though, with Leverkusen ace Hincapie believed to be a target.

Bolavip report that Tottenham are in the mix to sign Hincapie alongside AC Milan, Zenit St Petersburg, Sevilla, Roma and Napoli.

Hincapie, 20, has been impressing this season. Not the biggest centre back at 6ft tall, Hincapie has impressive pace and can play out from the back – attributes Conte may be seeking.

The Ecuadorian only joined Leverkusen last summer having impressed in Argentina with Talleres.

Tottenham now appear to be keen on signing Hincapie in a move that may leave Celtic ruing missing out.

Last summer, Mundo Deportivo reported that Celtic were in the race to sign Hincapie as they looked to bolster their defensive options.

A host of elite clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich were keen too, as were Newcastle United.

In the end, Hincapie joined Leverkusen for just £6.6million, meaning he was in Celtic’s price range but they just couldn’t make it happen.

Any move to Tottenham now would surely cost at least three times that fee, with Celtic possibly a little gutted to have missed on a quality player and some hefty profit.

Celtic ended up signing Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers, but Hincapie may feel like a big miss as a big summer move becomes possible.
