Tottenham Hotspur should seriously consider a move for the Italian.

Tottenham failed to sign a single player during the summer transfer window, but that doesn’t seem to have affected them one little bit, with two wins recorded from their opening two games.

Mauricio Pochettino must not allow those two games to paper over the cracks, however.

Whilst the transfer window is closed until January, clubs are still able to bring in free agents, and with this in mind, Spurs should consider a move for Claudio Marchisio, who is available on a free transfer following his release from Juventus.

The 32-year-old is an orthodox central midfielder by trade, with exceptional technical ability and a certain amount of creative nouse that would undoubtedly help Tottenham improve upon the fluidity of their play.

The north London outfit have plenty of central midfield options, including Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele, but most of them are defensively-minded players, and with Harry Winks still out injured, a player with Marchisio’s qualities would be surely welcomed with open arms at Spurs.

The former Juventus ace possesses real quality, and could make all the difference for Spurs during what will be another long and physically punishing campaign.

Marchisio’s availability on a free transfer means that a move to sign him would involve little risk, and bringing the Italian to Tottenham could turn out to be a really inspired piece of business from Pochettino.
