Tottenham Hotspur must hijack West Ham United’s reported interest in the Torino ace.
According to an exclusive report from Italian media outlet Cuoretoro, West Ham are believed to be lining up a £44 million swoop for Torino hitman Andrea Belotti, but Tottenham should surely be challenging them for the Italian’s signature.
Spurs are still in with a shout of winning all four competitions this season, but their chances of doing just that have taken a major blow over this past week, with Harry Kane being ruled out until at least March.
Mauricio Pochettino will surely be looking to bring in attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes in just under two weeks time, and he could do a lot worse than Belotti.
The 25-year-old is a well-proven, established goalscorer, having bagged 107 goals in 269 career appearances.
He is strong in the air, can hold the ball up really well, and despite lacking any kind of blistering pace, he has a wonderfully intelligent footballing brain.
Belotti is more than capable of filling in for Kane, but he would also provide fantastic competition for the Tottenham hitman when he returns to action.
The Italy international could also play alongside the Englishman, and he would offer Spurs an entirely different dimension to their attacking play.
Tottenham have a £50 million budget this month, according to a report from the Daily Telegraph, so it is debatable as to whether Poch would want to spend nearly all of that on just one signing.
In today’s day and age, however, £44 million for a player of Belotti’s class must be considered as good value for money, and Spurs must hijack West Ham’s attempted move for the striker.
