Bryan Gil has impressed Antonio Conte in training as he looks to fight for his Tottenham Hotspur future this summer.
If Conte doesn’t fancy you, it can be a very long, almost impossible road back to first-team football.
Just ask Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks, who were all effectively transfer-listed this summer.
Conte didn’t fancy any of them and didn’t take the quartet on the pre-season trip to South Korea, signalling the end of their time at Tottenham.
In the case of Gil, he hasn’t been pushed out but also hasn’t taken on an important role in the Tottenham squad.

Gil was snapped up from Sevilla last summer as Tottenham paid £21.6million plus Erik Lamela for the Spanish ace.
Gil had shown huge potential over in Spain and really impressed on loan at Eibar, tempting Tottenham into a deal.
The slight frame and outstanding close control left some wondering if Gil could be moulded into the next David Silva.
That really hasn’t happened though with Gil playing just 176 minutes of Premier League action last season.
Valencia took Gil on loan for the second half of the season and he once again showed promise back in his homeland.
That hasn’t resulted in Premier League minutes so far this season and it’s unclear just where Gil fits into Conte’s 3-4-3 system.
Sky Sports now claim that talks have been held with Valencia over a return there, but Conte has actually been impressed with Gil in training.
The Spaniard seemingly isn’t giving up hope of featuring prominently this season and has managed to catch Conte’s eye of late.
It still seems more likely that Gil will head out on loan once again, but impressing Conte is a major part of the battle for any Tottenham player – and Gil is managing to do just that.
