Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter has been left somewhat baffled by rumours linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Potter is receiving huge praise once again as his Brighton side absolutely demolished Manchester United 4-0 on Saturday evening.

This was a classic case of a team who look incredibly well-coached against a team who seem to have downed tools.

Brighton were everything United aren’t; smart on the ball, creative, aggressive and great to watch.

This is a recurring theme with Brighton, who have overcome a poor run of form to claim some real scalps of late.

Brighton went away to Arsenal and won 2-1 before then beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 on the other side of North London.

Add in Saturday’s thrashing of United and the so-called ‘big clubs’ are having a tough time against Potter’s Brighton side.

Hailed as a ‘great manager’ by Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Bruno Lage, Potter understandably has many admirers around the game.

The Telegraph claim that Potter is now emerging as the favourite to become Tottenham boss this summer if Antonio Conte leaves.

It still looks a little unlikely that Conte will be moving on but Tottenham may be wise to have a couple of targets in mind just in case.

Potter is thought to be on the wish list alongside Roberto Mancini, though Potter would allegedly cost around £10million.

It seems truly bizarre to have Potter being linked with a job that isn’t even available, and he is clearly a little confused.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Potter was baffled as to why he’s being linked with a job where there is no vacancy.

Potter admitted that he loves life at Brighton and hasn’t asked to leave at all, so he isn’t planning on a move to Tottenham any time soon.

“What can I say? There isn’t a vacancy at Tottenham and I’m being linked with it,” said a bemused Potter. “I’ve never said I wanted to leave. Things change quickly. I was getting criticism a few weeks ago but let’s not forget I’ve always had the support of Tony (Bloom, Brighton owner) and the board. I’m grateful for that and I love it here,” he added.
