Kyle Walker-Peters could play for Tottenham Hotspur against Barcelona.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that Kyle Walker-Peters is ready to start against Barcelona, as quoted by The London Evening Standard.

Both right-backs Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier are doubtful for Tottenham’s final Champions League Group B game against Barcelona away from home at Camp Nou on Tuesday evening due to injury.

Walker-Peters came on as a substitute during Spurs’ 2-0 win against Leicester away from home at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The 21-year-old defender did well during his time on the pitch against the Foxes, and Tottenham manager Pochettino has suggested that the England Under-21 international is ready to start against Barcelona.

The London Evening Standard quotes Pochettino as saying: “The squad is the most important. Today Kyle Walker-Peters had the responsibility to play.

“If they [Trippier and Aurier] are not ready Kyle is going to play. He is a great player, younger, but he is going to give his best if we need to play with him.”

Risky move?

Barcelona have one of the best squads in Europe and are among the favourites for the Champions League this season.

However, with the Spanish giants having already progressed to the knockout rounds of Europe’s premier club competition, they could decide to rest some of their best players.

Walker-Peters – who earns £20,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has made only a handful of appearances for the Tottenham first team, but he is only going to get better if he plays big games against teams such as Barcelona.
