Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he will hold talks with Toby Alderweireld over his future next week.

Alderweireld has yet to sign a new contract with Tottenham, with Sky Sports reporting that Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain all are interested in the Belgium international central defender.

Spurs manager Pochettino has revealed that he will speak to the 29-year-old defender next week.

Arsenal bound?

Tottenham and Arsenal are bitter North London rivals, but the Gunners are reported to be interested in signing Alderweireld in the summer transfer window.

According to Football.London, Arsenal are interested in signing the former Ajax central defender, who earns £75,000 per week as salary according to The Daily Star.

During an Question & Answer session Football.London’s Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts said when asked by a Gunners fan if they are interested in Alderweireld: “There is interest in Alderweireld, but I just can’t see it happening.”

Toby Alderweireld of Spura arrives prior to The Emirates FA Cup Quarter Final match between Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur at Liberty Stadium on March 17, 2018 in Swansea, Wales.

Unlikely to happen

Could Alderweireld do a Sol Campbell? It does look very unlikely at the moment.

Arsenal are not in the Champions League and may not be in Europe’s premier club competition for a while.

The Gunners may not be able to compete for the Premier League title either next season, and leaving Spurs for Arsenal now would be a step down for Alderweireld.
