Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has had his say on the tunnel bust-up between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford this past weekend.

The tabloids were provided with plenty of fodder amid claims the two teams squared up to each other in the tunnel after City’s 2-1 win, with Jose Mourinho in the thick of it.

Spurs boss Pochettino was asked about it at his press conference, and recounted his experience as a player.

He told SkySports: “In France too they were tough, playing (for PSG) against Ajaccio at half-time I remember a massive fight in the tunnel.

“You (the media) didn’t see it but they was fighting between us. It was terrible. Sometimes it happens.

“Was I hurt? No, I was clever. It was tough. After you are scared a little bit because it was like we were animals fighting and you do not know what happened.”

He went onto joke about Tottenham’s plans to make a see through tunnel at the new Tottenham stadium.

He said: “Now yes, City and Tottenham, maybe (have to) paint it black. Or at half-time, curtains – before the game, open, half-time, closed. Or if not you must pay double if you want to open them.”

Pochettino has been busy preparing his Tottenham side for another game at Wembley this evening, against Brighton.

They then face league leaders Manchester City, who are currently unbeaten.
