Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media last night, ahead of his side’s Champions League clash with Juventus tonight, and highlighted Gonzalo Higuain as the visitor’s danger man, as quoted by Calcio Mercato.

Tonight’s tie is finely poised, after the two sides drew 2-2 in Turin three weeks ago, but it could be argued that Spurs are the slight favourites, having scored two key away goals.

The Lilywhites found it hard to cope with Higuain’s quality during their 2-2 draw against Juve last month. The Argentine scored two goals inside the first 10 minutes in Turin, before Tottenham embarked on their superb comeback.

Pochettino’s singled out the 30-year-old for praise, when speaking to reporters ahead of tonight’s huge Champions League clash, and warned his players that they must be aware of Higuain’s quality, as quoted by Calcio Mercato:

Mauricio Pochettino manager

“I think he is one of the greatest strikers in the world, with Harry Kane. We know his talent very well and sometimes it is not easy to stop him. Like Paulo Dybala or Lionel Messi, this type of player. We need to be careful with him but also careful with all of their players we are going to play against on Wednesday.”

Pochettino is right to draw attention to the former Real Madrid and Napoli striker’s quality. He has scored 279 goals in 532 career appearances, and the Spurs defenders will have to be very much on top of their game tonight, if they are to keep him quiet.

If Tottenham play to their full potential, though, they have every chance of progressing through to the quarter-finals of the competition.
