Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to reporters ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace later this week, with his comments published online by Football.London.

Among the topics up for discussion was the gaffer’s decision to pick Heung-min Son as a left wing-back for the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea; a decision that backfired as Tottenham lost 4-2 on the day.

Pochettino has since confirmed that there was no injury to Ben Davies and that he picked the South Korea international solely for tactical reasons.

Davies has played regularly in the absence of Danny Rose, so it was surprising to see the Welsh international overlooked for Tottenham’s biggest match of the season to date.

The former Swansea City defender watched from the bench as his side lost 4-2 to the league leaders, but after the experiment failed we are unlikely to see Son start at wing-back again any time soon.

Next up for Spurs is a trip to Palace where they will be hoping to keep the pressure on Antonio Conte’s men.
