Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media after his side’s hard-fought win over Watford last night, and shared how he and Fernando Llorente ended up celebrating with one another after the Spaniard scored the winner late on, as quoted by Football.London.

Spurs now sit just seven points adrift of league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table, after Jürgen Klopp’s men failed to beat Leicester last night.

Tottenham deserve great credit for the manner in which they have remained in the title race over the past two weeks, with gritty come-from-behind 2-1 victories over Fulham and Watford respectively.

And Spurs had 33-year-old hitman Llorente to thank last night.

Pochettino spoke to reporters, and shared how he got in the Spaniard’s way when he ran off to celebrate with the fans, as quoted by Football.London:

“Yes, but I don’t think he wanted to come to me! I moved into his run, I put myself in the way to try to celebrate with him. I was so happy. Happy because Fernando worked so hard, working the last four games with Harry Kane out, he’s working so hard for the team, to help the team to win three points today is a massive thing.”

With Harry Kane not due back until early March, Llorente will have a big part to play for Tottenham over the next month or so.

And if Spurs are to have any chance whatsoever of winning the league, the experienced striker will have to be on his very best form during Kane’s absence.
