The Tottenham Hotspur manager raved about the quality of the La Liga giants.
When speaking to reporters, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino told reporters how Barcelona are favourites to win this season’s Champions League, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Spurs have impressed in Europe this season, and they face a tough Champions League quarter-final draw against Manchester City next month, although at this stage, every club left in the competition will believe that they can win Europe’s premier prize.
Tottenham’s form in Europe has actually been a welcome distraction from the Premier League, having taken just one point form their last four league games.
Barcelona meanwhile, continue to dominate domestically, and they currently sit 10 points clear at the top of La Liga.
And Pochettino told reporters how Ernesto Valverde’s side are clear favourites to win the Champions League this season, as quoted by Sky Sports:
“If there is one favourite team to win Champions League it is Barcelona. Valverde is doing a great job. They have players of extraordinary level, and then they have Lionel Messi. He has been praised and will continue to be. He is the best player in the world. An extraordinary and unique player.”
Tottenham will undoubtedly believe that they can go on to win the Champions League, but realistically, they will do extremely well to make it through to the semi-finals of the competition.
Spurs can only meet Barcelona in the final, due to how the draw panned out, and Pochettino would undoubtedly love to take on the five-time European Cup winners at UEFA’s showpiece event.
