Tottenham Hotspur could pay a steep price for Juan Foyth’s Champions League omission.

It’s taken a while, but Juan Foyth is finally beginning to look like a Tottenham Hotspur player. The young Argentine impressed again this past weekend as Tottenham thrashed Chelsea 3-1 at Wembley in what was only his third Premier League start for Spurs.
The 20-year-old, an £8 million signing in 2017 [Daily Mail], has been one of the Lilywhites’ most impressive players during the month of November, but he can’t face Inter Milan on Wednesday – and manager Mauricio Pochettino must be cursing the decision to leave him out.
Foyth was omitted from Tottenham’s Champions League squad back in August, meaning that he cannot play any part in the must-win visit of the Italian giants.
Problem is, Davinson Sanchez is also injured and the North Londoners could be in serious trouble.
Jan Vertonghen will come back into the first XI presumably, but the Belgian centre-back hasn’t kicked a ball in two months due to injury and there is no margin for error against Inter.
Anything but three points and Pochettino’s side – who sit third in Group B – are out of the competition. An in-form Foyth is a bigger asset to Tottenham than a rusty Vertonghen, but the Lilywhites will have to settle for the latter this week.
Hindsight is a great thing, and Pochettino couldn’t have known that Foyth would come so far so quickly, but the former Southampton boss might regret not hedging his bets and including him anyway.
