Tottenham Hotspur have fast-tracked Troy Parrott to the verge of the first team.
Tottenham fans should be getting pretty excited that the club have a potential superstar on their books.
Most important of all, manager Mauricio Pochettino is impressed too.
Tottenham signed Troy Parrott to a pro-deal earlier this year and the 17-year-old has already become a regular for the under-23s.
He has been billed as Ireland’s next Robbie Keane, and hopes to follow in his footsteps at Tottenham too.
At the weekend Tottenham boss Pochettino included him with the travelling party for the Premier League squad against Leicester, as their 19th man, ready to step up to the bench in case of a late injury.
Parrott is being fast-tracked to the first team, and his debut could come sooner than expected if Pochettino continues his rapid trajectory by including him in the League Cup squad next week.
Parrott is being considered at a younger age than previous Spurs striker prospects.
Shayon Harrison and Kazaiah Sterling are both on Tottenham’s books, but Pochettino has shown no faith in them over the past year.
It appears Parrott may have overtaken them in the pecking order despite being younger.
If Pochettino is excited about the young striker, a potential heir to Harry Kane, then supporters should be too.
