Tottenham Hotspur have just three days to recover between Sunday’s clash with Leicester and their last 16 Champions League tie with Dortmund.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters yesterday, and admitted that he is really frustrated with the Premier League, given the fact that his team will have one day less to prepare than their opponents for their Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night, as quoted by Football.London.

Spurs play at home to Leicester City at 13:30 tomorrow, whilst Dortmund play today at home to Hoffenheim.

English clubs are often up against it in Europe, with games being moved to suit the big TV companies, and this year seems to be no different.

And Pochettino told reporters how he cannot understand why Tottenham’s game against Leicester was not played last night, or at the very latest, today, as quoted by Football.London:

“We are disappointed with the Premier League because we aren’t getting help because it’s clear it’s a massive disadvantage to play with one day less to prepare for the Champions League and it’s so difficult when you have a clear week. Why not play today, or Saturday, when you have a big game against Borussia Dortmund. I think in another country, like Germany, Spain or France, clubs that are involved in Europe always get helped. The league will help you to try and arrive in the best condition.”

In spite of Pochettino’s comments, it was not actually the Premier League’s decision to move Tottenham’s game against Leicester from Saturday to Sunday.

Sky TV are the ones who are really to blame, but with the amount of money they have brought in to the game, it is hard to argue that they have been anything other than a great asset to the continued evolution of the Premier League.
