Walker-Peters featured for Tottenham in their final Champions League group match against Barcelona away from home at Camp Nou on Tuesday evening.
The 21-year-old defender did not exactly have a great game, as the youngster was responsible for Barcelona scoring through Ousmane Dembele early on, and he was also shown a yellow card later on.
The young right-back has played jus 12 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, and he could struggle for playing time in the coming months due to the presence of Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier.
Tottenham manager Pochettino, though, has made it clear that he does not plan to send the youngster out on loan.
Pochettino told ESPN FC when asked if Walker-Peters could be loaned out in January: “Now, no. Now, for me, he’s one of the best options. Like always, who deserves it more is going to play – you know me. I’m so happy with his performance.”
Good decision?
Walker-Peters is a promising young right-back, and although he could do with regular playing time in a competitive league, working with Pochettino at the Tottenham training ground is also going to help him learn, develop and progress.
