Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to continue their fine run tomorrow, when they head to the Midlands to take on West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.

Speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino offered his thoughts on the penalty wrangle between Erik Lamela and Son Heung-min during his sides 2-0 win over Manchester City two weeks ago, as quoted by the Enfield Gazette.

Surprisingly, Pochettino claims that the incident actually did not bother him, and that he would prefer to see that rather than players not wanting to take penalties.

The question has to be asked – would the Tottenham boss have had quite same view had City managed to pull the game back level?

Speaking to reporters before his side’s trip to the Hawthorns to take on West Bromwich Albion, Pochettino discussed the penalty incident, which caused so much furore, and amazingly claimed he would be happy to see the same occur tomorrow, as quoted by the Enfield Gazette:

“It’s a normal situation – both players wanted to take the penalty and I prefer that to players not wanting to take them. If they have more confidence to shoot then they should. It is not a problem.”

In the absence of Harry Kane, surely it would make sense for Pochettino to designate a deputy spot-kick taker, until the 23-year-old England international returns to action.

A win tomorrow could take Spurs to the top of the table, should City fail to beat Everton at the Etihad.
