Tottenham have received a boost in their pursuit of Atalanta star Ruslan Malinovskyi in the January window thanks to Marseille, with TMW claiming the French side have pulled out of the race – leaving Spurs alone in pursuit of the star.
Malinovskyi, 29, has been long linked with a move to Tottenham ahead of the January window. The experienced Ukraine star is out of contract at the end of the season. He has played a bit-part role for the Serie A side this season.
Atalanta are keen to cash in on the 51-time international before losing him on a free in the summer. Marseille had been linked alongside Spurs. Italian site Corriere di Bergamo reported last week that Spurs have made a £13m bid.
Now, TMW report that Spurs are alone in their pursuit of the attacking midfielder – with Marseille dropping out of the race to land the Ukraine star. It looks like Spurs are on pole to get the ex-Genk attacker next month, as things stand.

Tottenham boost as Marseille pull out of Malinovskyi race
Spurs need attacking options. Richarlison is out injured for the foreseeable and it looks as if Bryan Gil will be leaving the club, at least on loan, next month. Estadio Deportivo say he is crazy to leave, with five La Liga clubs interested.
Malinovskyi is able to play as an attacking midfielder, or even deeper in midfield – while also being able to cover the flanks. He has even been known to play as a false nine. So, Spurs are getting themselves a quality, versatile player.
It looks as if they are nailed on to get a deal done now. Marseille are unwilling to sign him in January and actually pay a figure for the attacking star. Whether Spurs can get him towards the start of January, or the end, remains to be seen.
